The install information presented below is a copy of the #INSTALL record as
provided in the actual database file.
Also, should you experience any problem with any one of the control files, or
it is missing, using an editor you can extract that file from the appropriate
record in the database file. If you find a need to do this, DO NOT copy the
the record "key" or record terminator (&&) as part of the file data.
____________________ DX PacketCluster Database Install _____________________
PRIMARY SERVING NODE:
---------------------
To install BUREAU, load the following files into your PACKCLUS\DB directory:
BUREAU.LIS Shown to user if no argument used with SH/BUREAU
BUREAU.FUL The database file
BUREAU.IDX The database index
BUREAU.PRE Shown to user before the specific request
BUREAU.NF Shown to user if requested information not found
BUREAU.AOK Shown to user if update is attempted
NOTE: The database index may not always be included. If it is missing,
you will need to perform the following using the MAKEIDX utility:
MAKEIDX BUREAU.FUL 1800
Next, add the following lines to your SYSOP.DAT file:
SET/COMMAND BUREAU BUREAU.LIS BUREAU.FUL/BUREAU.IDX BUREAU.PRE * BUREAU.NF
SET/COMMAND/COMMENT BUREAU Directory of Worldwide/U.S./USSR QSL Bureaus
If you did not shut down the node to install the database, type in the
above two lines as SYSOP commands.
After reviewing the DOC files, PBT_DB.DOC and BUREAU.DOC, you may delete them
from your database directory. You should store the database ZIP file in a
save place.
REMOTE NODE:
------------
Other nodes may access the database from the SERVING node by adding lines
to their SYSOP.DAT and/or typing in the lines as a command. If the callsign
of the node where the database is installed is WB6EXC, then the other nodes
would execute the following commands:
SET/COMMAND BUREAU * * * * * WB6EXC
SET/COMMAND/COMMENT BUREAU Directory of Worldwide/U.S./USSR QSL Bureaus
CLUSTER COMPANION:
------------------
Users of Cluster Companion should install the database following the same
procedure as PRIMARY SERVING NODE above, but observing the proper directory
and callsign entries for that user.
PCDB:
-----
Users of the PacketCluster Database Reader program should install the
database files into the directory shown in the SET/DIRECTORY line of their
SYSOP.DAT file. If no entry, install in same directory where PCDB resides.
The following command in SYSOP.DAT should be entered:
SET/COMMAND BUREAU #LIS BUREAU.FUL/BUREAU.IDX #PRE * #NF
An additional (optional) entry would be:
SET/COMMAND/COMMENT BUREAU Directory of Worldwide/U.S./USSR QSL Bureaus
DIFFICULTY:
-----------
Should any difficulty be experienced installing any database files, or you
need more information, you may wish to read over Database Installation in
your manual (or DOC file) with PacketCluster, Cluster Companion, or PCDB.
